 Empty Great Hall?
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2005, 1:56am »

Being a 7th Year Ravenclaw in a school for witches and wizards, Karen expected the Great Hall to be quite full during a normal dinner session. Usually she was the last one from her house (nevermind her year) to make it to the Great Hall, and therefore she would have to sit at the edge of the bench closest to the doors. Well...today was kind of different. Karen walked into the Great Hall, and her eyes bulged. "What the..." she said, looking around. She came across a very empty Great Hall.

To Karen, this had its perks. For instance, she could have any seat at the end of the table she wanted. Also, she had first crack at the different dinner selections. Let's have some chicken, some mashed potatoes, some stuffing, and some cranberry sauce, she thought to herself as she filled her plate for the first time since she first placed the Sorting Hat on her head.

And then she started to eat. Usually at this time, dinner would be over and the students of Hogwarts would be forced to return to their Common Rooms. But for once...Karen wouldn't have to fill her plate for nothing. She made her dinner selection and sat down, about to enjoy a nice meal.

Kelli walked into the Great Hall, she had just come in from the gardens, smiling she pushed open one of the heavy entrance doors. Instead of the usual roar of hungry students, Kelli was greeted with silence. Her smile dropped a slight bit, her brow furrowed and she bit her lip. "Where could everyone be?" she asked herself.

Looking around she spotted one other student in the large room, a Ravenclaw that she had never seen before. Forgetting the girl, Kelli walked over to the empty Hufflepuff table and took a small plate and piled a little chocolate pudding on it. With a smile she grabbed a sthingy and dug into her favorite snack.

Hearing the other girl at the table, Kelli looked over her shoulder, for some reason she sparked a curious match in her. Getting up, with her plate of pudding she walked over to the girl. Sitting down beside her Kelli smiled and simply stated "Im Kelli"

As Karen took a healthy bite of her stuffing, she heard a voice from behind her. She gulped; moving all of the food from her mouth to her stomach. Then she turned around in her seat and looked up. "Hello," she said, smiling at the Hufflepuff. "My name's Karen. Nice to meet you, Kelli." She looked around the Great Hall, now occupied by a couple of younger Gryffindors who had come down with a Prefect.

"This is the first time I've had a decent meal since the very first night of my first year," Karen continued. "I honestly don't know what's up with the rest of the school."

Karen was just about to swallow some pumpkin juice when Kelli told her about a whole Austrian town that had disappeared. She was able to keep most of the juice in her mouth and swallowed it, hoping not to do a spit take right in front of her. "An entire town," she asked the Hufflepuff with a look of concern on her face. "How did that happen?"

She turned around long enough to stick a forkful of chicken in her mouth, followed by another sip of pumpkin juice.

Kelli stood up, blushing even more. "no, I'm sorry I can't tell you anymore.."she said in a rush, turning around walking back to the Hufflepuff table, but soon she turned back around, craving a friend or at least someone to talk to. Kelli looked the Ravenclaw up and down, tying to decide wheter or not to tell her anymore. Finally she decided to finish what she started, if it had been someone else from another house she wouldnt have..

Sitting back down next to Karen, she exploded, "well, we dont know exactally what happened, but the ministry does have a couple leads" she started before going into the whole story...

((sorry that is a very lame post..you can come up with part of th dissapearing story if you want))

Hearing Kelli recite the story about the disappearing Austrian town, Karen's mouth opened just a little bit. The shape formed looked like it was one of shock or utter panic. "Well, unless a whole town can apparate--and that's sounding unlikely--I'm personally thinking some group of people caused this. I don't know who I can suspect, but this group isn't a very nice group.

Very good, Karen. The use of words you just put together sounded like it could have come out of the mouth of a First Year.
